Hours 20-24: The Frantic Rush

OK, so it’s now Monday, and after sleeping for most of the weekend I now finally have the strength to write about the last few hours of our 24hour-startup.com adventure.

The frantic rush to get a working Beta up
Wow. I think I can honestly say that none of us have ever worked on anything that has [...]

Hour 19 – Is that the sound of life outside?

Wakey, Wakey Eggs and Bakey! We have made it through the night and are still trundelling away. The latest to report for you early (albeit) UK risers is:
Development:
Histograms, nested sets and saturation: It’s not easy conversation over in developer land. Suffice to say – it’s all good, it’s all progress and all starting to fall [...]

Hours 16, 17 & 18: Monosyllabic grunts and The Prodigy on LOUD.

It’s the early hours of the morning and things are really hotting up on the development front. Stuff is starting to appear on the the developers screens that looks really cool even though most of us don’t know what it means.
Everyone’s far too busy for in-depth interviews, and so tired they’re incapable of proper conversation [...]

Hour 15: Final Logo + Page Design Draft

Yessssssss! We’ve finished a workstream. 7 hours to go and the logo is done. What do you think?

And, we’re now seeing what a search results page will look like:

Hours 11, 12, 13 and 14!!!!: We love it when a plan comes together…

First of all, MASSIVE SORRY for the hourly updates dropping off. Hopefully this post will make up for it. I’ll try to make it as awesome as possible.
Biggest news after 4 hours of the most manic work any of us has ever done is… wait for it… the Dr Hue holding page is now up! [...]

Hour 10: Dr Hue is (becoming) ALIIIIIVE!

Great work from the design and branding crew this last hour. Here’s some early logo concepts from Nick:
SO, which is YOUR favourite… let us know in the comments and you might influence the final one. After all, Nick’s got a good few hours left to finish it!

Also, Ben’s been working on the main man… Dr. [...]

Hours 8 & 9: Focus group, user experience, whiskey.

Uh-oh, Dan’s brought some scotch with him. Ostensibly this is for helping him sleep tomorrow… but why’s it on his desk?
Anyway, hours 8 and 9 have flown by in a blur. But there’s been some awesome progress.
In order to make Dr Hue perfect for people who want to “shop by colour”, we needed to do [...]

Hour 7: Mmmmm… Pizza.

I just had a really nice chat with Graham Charlton, who writes at Econsultancy. He had loads of good questions about the project which we’re gonna try to address over the next few hours in some more specific posts.
We also ate a load of very tasty pizza from Soho Pizza – which is awesome, by [...]

Hour 6: Can we metamorph a developer into a designer please?

The Tech team are bombing along nicely. They’re confident they can do all the colour matching stuff required to make Dr Hue work (lots of geekbabble about RGB values and Symfony etc) and TradeDoubler have got us on their system in just a few hours – when it normally takes a week. Awesome stuff – [...]

Hour 5: We Have a Name & We Have Some Affiliate Feeds!

OK. 4-5pm was a BIG hour!
The branding team have now decided upon a name and we have the domain names registered. ‘Dr Hue’ is the winner, with ‘Killa Colour’ and ‘Hue Choose’ coming in a close joint second place!
Also, Will’s cut a little video from the idea-choosing process earlier today:

The development team have now reported [...]
